| The Nyalazi Birding Co-operative has been brought to life to combat the abject poverty of the people living on the outskirts of the Greater St.
Lucia Wetlands
and surrounding rural areas of Umkhanyakude District Municipality of KZN South Africa.
Nyalazi Birding Co-operative will assist all members of
Nyalazi Birding Co-op with Marketing and advertising materials as well give training in the use of new age Technology such as internet related matters
including management of interactive online databases and other website management tools. |
The Basic idea is to bring tourism to the people who have birds with associated fauna and flora on their property in a new and novel fashion, and ensure that the
land owner is compensated for his efforts in eco management of his / her land.
The property owner is expected to create facilities for the
birding industry on their property, and then charge a small fee
for the daily use of these facilities such as hides, walking
trails, or tented accommodation with associated services such as
ablution facilities, meals or registered guides. Isimangaliso
Birding Route will act as a collective marketing machine for Nyalazi
Birding Co-op as well as the many other Co-ops established along the
Route between Mapelane and Kozi Bay. |
isimangaliso Birding Route is expected to market the individual facilities and services each member has on offer and be paid a marketing fee plus a commission for all
transactions concluded over the Internet
isimangaliso Birding Route is basically a collective marketing machine focusing on birding and birding related industries surrounding the Greater St.
Lucia Wetlands Park on
the East Coast of KZN South Africa. Nyalazi Birding Co-op will
become a member of Isimangaliso Birding Route and work together
with many other co-operatives to form the Isimangaliso Birding
Route
Each co-op will be represented on the management structure of
Isimangaliso birding Route along with all other interested and
affected parties
